About Us

Caldera Capital Group is a private investment firm headquartered in Atlanta, GA. We provide receivable financing, alternative asset management, financial advisory, and capital raising services to our clients, and invest our own capital in selective situations.

We are independent and unencumbered by the potential conflicts of interest inherent in bulge bracket firms and universal banks. At Caldera we pride ourselves in assessing our clients’ needs and delivering objective advice that enables them to make the most informed decisions.

Our Executive Staff

Chris Stenglein

Chris Stenglein

President

Mr. Stenglein leads the execution and overall strategic direction of the company. He is an accomplished entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in operational management, business development and asset management. In 1997 he launched ITM Group, a telecom professional services firm with auditing, cost recovery and containment expertise focused on the Fortune 500. ITM Group was the leading firm in its industry, successfully eliminating over $250M in annual expenses for some of the largest financial institutions and Asset Receivable Management companies in the nation. ITM Group was purchased in 1999 by Profit Recovery Group. Over the past decade, in various industries and capacities, Mr. Stenglein has consummated over a dozen M&A transactions worth nearly $200M in value. Mr. Stenglein is a Cum Laude Graduate of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business with a B.B.A. in Finance. Mr. Stenglein joined the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in 2006, has been a member of the Lumen Institute since 2010, and is active in numerous local and international charitable organizations.

Richard Weinstein

Executive Vice President

Mr. Weinstein has worked in the financial markets for over 25 years and manages our capital needs, client relationships and strategic business development. In addition, he represents Caldera in Board and Advisory roles for our portfolio companies. Before joining Caldera, he focused on private equity investments for both institutional and family office clients in an array of products including Gulf of Mexico Oil & Gas Exploration, Hedge Fund strategies, Sustainable Agriculture and Venture Capital. From 1993-2000 Mr. Weinstein was Senior Vice President of International Equity Sales for The Robinson-Humphrey Company (now SunTrust Robinson-Humphrey) where he was in charge of European Capital Markets. Prior to that, Mr. Weinstein worked on both public and private placements for U.S.-based companies while living in New York, London and Paris. Mr. Weinstein holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Adam Elder

Vice President

Mr. Elder has worked in operations, data management and receivables management for over 15 years. Mr. Elder began his career at HSBC on the sell side before joining West Asset Management, which at the time was one of the largest debt buyers in the country, and honing his skills on the debt buying market. Prior to joining Caldera, he was a senior executive in business development with TransUnion where his role was to help integrate TransUnion’s products into the processes of the Top debt buyers and agencies in the country. From these former roles, Mr. Elder has intimate knowledge of the complete process flow of all aspects from portfolio modeling, attribute weighting and scoring to skip processes, call strategies, agency management, performance management and debt purchasing. At Caldera, he helps oversee both operational and technological implementations.

James Martinez

James Martinez

Senior IT and Data Manager

Mr. Martinez heads the IT and data management for our firm. After working several years at IBM as a remote support engineer, Mr. Martinez eventually transitioned to First Financial Asset Management as a network administrator. During his 7 years at FFAM he expanded his skills in both the data and operational aspects of receivables management, eventually being promoted to Director of Information Technology. Mr. Martinez joined Caldera in 2013 and now oversees the vast data management and analysis requirements across our various platforms. Mr. Martinez is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received his BS in Computer Science.

Christopher Marinac

Mr. Marinac serves as Managing Principal and Director of Research at FIG Partners LLC, www.figpartners.com, which he co-founded in 2003 to provide research, advisory, capital raising, and market-making services to community and mid-sized banks nationwide. He previously was a senior research analyst at The Robinson-Humphrey Co., SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, and Interstate/Johnson Lane (now Wells Fargo Securities). He has a grass roots discipline of serving investors and Banks. He is a two-time winner of The Wall Street Journal “Best on the Street” survey and Institutional Investor magazine has listed him as an “Up and Comer” during several annual investor polls. Chris holds a BBA in Finance & Accounting from Kent State University (summa cum laude graduate) and also has his Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He serves on the Board of Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities Inc, and has been a past Chairman and a volunteer since 1996. Chris is also a board member of Orpheus Brewing LLC.
